The Korean Education Center in Los Angeles was founded on April 11, 1980 by the Ministry of Education (now Ministry of Education, Science and Technology) in Korea. For more than two decades the Center has fulfilled its mission to provide Korean Americans with various educational programs to help them establish their Korean identity in the United States. The Center will continue its mission to reach out to Korean American communities to enhance their understanding and appreciation on Korean heritage.

◦ April 1980 Opened Korean Education Center at the Korean Consulate General, Los Angeles by Korean Ministry of Education
◦ October 1996 Established Korean-American Education Foundation, Inc. by donation of Korean Americans in Southern California and the Korean government (Ministry of Education and Human Resources)
◦ November 1999 Changed the title of Foundation to Korean Education Foundation, L.A., INC.
◦ February 2002 Opened the Education Facility Building of Korean Education Center at 680 Wilshire Place, Los Angeles
◦ November 2005 Changed the title of Foundation to Korean American Education Foundation, INC.
